Scope
This privacy statement applies to the website plesty.net including all of its publicly accessible subdomains — the project website and related services such as the module documentation and the module registry — all hosted on the same server of Leibniz Universität IT Services (LUIS). Pages of these subdomains may retrieve content from one another; no data is transferred to third parties in the process, as all services are operated by the same controller on the same server.
Internal applications and administration areas restricted to the university network are not part of this public offering and inform their users separately.
General information on data processing
We process our users' personal data only insofar as is necessary to provide a functioning website and our content. This website does not use cookies, does not employ analytics or tracking tools, does not embed content from third-party servers, and does not provide user accounts or forms.
Provision of the website and creation of log files
This website is hosted on servers of Leibniz Universität IT Services (LUIS) within the university network. Every time you visit the website, the system automatically collects data and information from the computer system of the accessing computer.
The following data is collected:
- User-agent information (browser, operating system, hardware architecture, other user-agent information)
- The client's IP address
- Date and time of access and response
- Status code from the server
- Referrer (website from which the client accessed the requested page)
- Requested URL (including HTTP method)
- Server name and port
The data is stored in the log files of our system. This data is not stored together with other personal data of the user.
The legal basis for the temporary storage of data and log files is Article 6 (1) (e) and Article 6 (3) GDPR in conjunction with section 3 of the Lower Saxony Data Protection Act (NDSG) and section 3 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG).
Temporary storage of the IP address by the system is necessary to enable the website to be delivered to the user's computer. The data is stored in log files to ensure the functionality of the website, to optimise it, and to ensure the security of our IT systems. The data is not analysed for marketing purposes.
The data will be deleted as soon as it is no longer necessary to achieve the purpose for which it was collected. Log files are deleted after 14 days at the latest.
For technical reasons, the collection of data for the provision of the website and the storage of data in log files is essential for the operation of the website. Consequently, there is no possibility for the user to object.
Email contact
You can contact us via the email address provided in the legal notice. In this case, the personal data transmitted with your email will be stored. The data will be used exclusively for processing the conversation and will not be passed on to third parties.
The legal basis for processing data transmitted in the course of sending an email is Article 6 (1) (e) and Article 6 (3) GDPR in conjunction with section 3 NDSG and section 3 NHG.
The data will be deleted as soon as it is no longer necessary to achieve the purpose for which it was collected — that is, when the respective conversation with the user has ended and no statutory retention periods prevent erasure.
Links to external websites
This website contains links to external websites, in particular to the PLESTY source-code repositories and documentation hosted on gitlab.com, a platform operated by GitLab Inc. (USA). When you follow such a link, you leave this website; from that point on, the privacy policy of the respective operator applies. For GitLab, see the GitLab Privacy Statement.
No data is transmitted to these external providers merely by visiting this website — data is only transferred once you actively follow a link.
Rights of the data subject
If your personal data is processed, you are a data subject within the meaning of the GDPR and you have the following rights towards the data controller, provided the legal requirements are met:
- Right of access to information according to Article 15 GDPR
- Right to rectification according to Article 16 GDPR
- Right to erasure according to Article 17 GDPR
- Right to restrict processing according to Article 18 GDPR
- Right to be informed according to Article 19 GDPR
- Right to data portability according to Article 20 GDPR
- Right to object according to Article 21 GDPR
You also have the right to object to data processing at any time. We will then stop processing your data unless legitimate grounds exist to continue, or where processing serves to assert, exercise or defend legal claims. Should you exercise any of the above-mentioned rights, the data controller will assess whether the legal requirements are met.
Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedy, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in particular in the Member State where you reside, work, or where the alleged infringement occurred — if you believe that the processing of personal data concerning you infringes the GDPR.
